Radio Host Calls On Pupils to Denounce Teachers Talking Politics

The owner of the popular local ABC radio station on Thursday urged university students to call his station and inform listeners if their teachers discuss information that could be deemed critical of the government. An ABC radio employee who spoke on the condition of anonymity as she is not authorized to speak to other media, said Thursday that ABC owner Seng Bunveng, who goes by the pseudonym “Aja A,” called on students to ring the station and out teachers with political views. Mr. Bunveng could not be contacted for comment. … “If they know this [teachers talking about politics], just inform ABC and the station will convey the message to the top level to check,” the ABC staffer said of the broadcast yesterday. “The teachers can’t use their teaching time to tell students about politics. When they teach, they can’t talk about politics,” the staffer said. The call to hold teachers to account is not the first time that Mr. Bunveng’s views have caused controversy. …
